Large or small, a UPS is part of the critical infrastructure, it is essential to conduct regular inspections to ensure continuous, problem-free functioning. This protects critical loads from disruptions and probable power failures from the primary source.

Centiel’s thorough maintenance inspections of UPSs guarantee optimal performance of all system components, such as filter capacitors, cooling fans, and batteries, to guarantee they function within their expected service life. They also assess on-site and loading conditions. To fulfill proper, documented UPS maintenance, they leverage service software and technical documentation while strictly adhering to the manufacturer’s specifications. This careful approach makes sure that all service history of the UPS is thoroughly recorded.

Routine maintenance greatly reduces the chances of breakdowns and unexpected repairs, which allows for continuous operation. The primary objective of lifecycle management maintenance is to avoid breakdowns and solve issues promptly while ensuring that costs are reasonable.

A cornerstone of any UPS system is certainly its battery bank – a reservoir of energy that ensures a steady supply of clean power to sustain the critical processes powered by the UPS.

Traditionally, valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries have played a central role in providing backup power for UPS systems. However, the field of battery technology is evolving at an impressive rate, with lithium-ion emerging as a compelling alternative, particularly in scenarios where high energy density and lightweight solutions are essential. The appeal of lithium-ion technology is enhanced by its extended life, compact size, reduced weight, faster recharge cycles, and decreasing cost.

The performance, reliability, and life of a battery system are influenced by a number of variables. A battery’s conductance serves as an ongoing indicator of its health and ability to deliver power when needed. Monitoring conductance during routine maintenance proves invaluable in predicting cell defects, short circuits, aging, and open circuits that can lead to battery failure.
As part of our commitment to extending battery life, we provide an assessment of environmental conditions and AC components within your DC output to mitigate potential stressors that could accelerate battery aging.

Given the finite life of batteries, there will inevitably come a time for replacement. Centiel is ready with a comprehensive solution for the seamless replacement of battery banks and is fully equipped to supply and install new batteries for all brands of three-phase and large single-phase UPS systems.

Centiel’s advanced UPS technology offers extended lifetimes, but it’s important to recognize that certain basic components, such as capacitors and fans, have an inherently finite life.

These components play a critical role in the functionality of the UPS system. However, it’s important to note that these components have not evolved in the same way as the UPS itself.

To ensure uninterrupted availability of your critical loads, it is imperative to proactively replace these components before they reach the end of their operational life. This proactive approach ensures the reliability and continued performance of your UPS infrastructure.

Centiel’s proactive maintenance inspections provide early warning of the need for filter capacitor and fan replacement, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the UPS.

Commissioning an uninterruptible power supply is a process that goes far beyond the flip of a switch. It involves a series of critical checks and precise calibrations that must be carefully performed before the UPS can be seamlessly integrated into your operation. It’s not just about making sure the UPS works, it’s about making sure the UPS works for your business.

Prior to commissioning, a thorough assessment of both the electrical installation and the UPS environment is essential to ensure compliance with the manufacturer’s requirements. Once the suitability of the installation has been confirmed, Centiel’s team of factory-trained commissioning engineers precisely follows a comprehensive procedure to guarantee that the UPS operates flawlessly and is ready to be handed over to the end user.

The Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) not only allow for rigorous testing of the equipment but also facilitate a comprehensive review of its overall operation to ensure that it is perfectly aligned with your business requirements. These tests occur in Centiel’s factory in Switzerland and are done with the customer.

The witnessed factory acceptance test aims to determine and document in detail that the acquired system performs as per specifications. The same set of tests is carried out by the standard production in 100% of the systems manufactured by Centiel, nevertheless, the documentation of the tests is not witnessed by the customers
